Scientists Link Selfies To Narcissism, Addiction & Mental Illness

The growing trend of taking smartphone selfies is linked to mental health conditions that focus on a person’s obsession with looks.

According to psychiatrist Dr David Veal: “Two out of three of all the patients who come to see me with Body Dysmorphic Disorder since the rise of camera phones have a compulsion to repeatedly take and post selfies on social media sites.” read more

  3. Scientist are narcissistic to think they always know the answer to everything. Was Rembrant a narcissist when he did self portraits? Are people who write autobiographies narcissistic? I gave up on science when they spent a bunch of money to figure out and juts discovered the mother's milk was good for babies. I guess mothers are narcissistic to to believe they have know this without science since forever.

  4. Overdoing it is more a proof of low self esteem, where one constantly need the 'input' of other people to feel better about him/herself. You will rarely see someone on facebook say "youre ugly" even if the person actually is ugly, unconsciously the person is aware of that and use facebook in his advantage to fish for compliments.
